The School of Humanities offers a B.A. degree and minor in Communication. Majors choose one of three concentrations to complete the degree:ÌýCommunication Studies, Integrated Media, or Film & Media Arts. (seeÌý).
An acquired understanding of communication theory, research, and practice are central to the department’s mission. Effective communication has limitless applications across computer-mediated and face-to-face professional and personal contexts.
Co-curricular opportunities inÌýdigital media and student performance organizations enhance classroom instruction. The program's internship program places advanced students in positions outside the university, where they contribute substantive service to the community and professions.
The Communication Program also offers an interdisciplinary Master of Arts degree program. (seeÌý)
Mission
To teach the theory and practice of communication, both to students dedicated to pursuing careers requiring advanced skills and knowledge in communication, and to students in all other majors across the university who require basic knowledge and skills in communication for the conduct of careers, public and private interactions, and interpersonal relationships.

The Hawkeye is an award-winning student newspaper and online news source of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The Hawkeye print edition is available at newspaper racks strategically located around campus or view the news source .
KXUL Radio - Ìý, as it is known, is the 8,500-watt student-staffed FM radio station operated within the college. 91X is on the air with its modern rock format 24 hours each day, throughout the year. Students of all majors and classes are invited to join the 91X staff of volunteers. A limited number of work-study positions are available for the more experienced on-air staff members of the station, and for the station's student managers.Ìý
